This is the poem that my beautiful daughter wrote to me for Mother’s Day this year. When I read it, I realized THIS IS IT! This is my Conscious Parenting Reminder – the reason why I do what I do, why I am so passionate about it and why I am so committed to helping other parents develop a strong, loving connection to their children.
When You Thought I Wasn’t
When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you hang my kindergarten artwork up
And I wanted to say thank you for making me feel special.
When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you prepare a whole bag of things for a homeless man
And I thought it is good to be kind.
When you thought I wasn’t listening,
I heard you talking to a friend on the phone
And I knew it is great to make people happy.
When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I felt you kiss me goodnight daily
And I felt appreciated.
When you thought I wasn’t listening,
I heard you say sorry
And I learned it is right to admit to mistakes.
When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you made someone cry happy tears
And I wanted to make someone cry happy tears too.
When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I looked…
And I wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw
When you thought I wasn’t looking.
Happy Mother’s Day 2016
Love,
Faith
What do you think your children are noticing when you think they aren’t?
Is it something you would be proud of?
Beautiful, Erin. Tears.
Thanks, Renee
This is lovely Erin!!
